Get ready for an August update packed with ways to supercharge your membership! This month, we’re sharing important committee meeting updates, launching nominations for our Regional Leadership Advisory Boards (RLABs), and kicking off a flash sale for Game Night on September 18th!

We’re excited to share a quick update about our committee meetings—designed to make your USGBC-CA membership even more valuable.

Here’s what’s changing:

  • Committee meetings will continue to be free for all current USGBC-CA members. For non-members, there is now a $10 registration fee per meeting.

    • This change helps reinforce the benefits of membership while also supporting the time, tools, and staff that go into making these meetings valuable, well-run spaces for collaboration and action.

  • RSVP + Zoom Updates:

    • Our new committee meeting RSVP system is live and working on the Hub.

    • We’ve created updated Eventbrite listings that reflect the new structure.

    • New Zoom links are now active and included in your registration confirmation email.

Take the lead in your region by joining a Regional Leadership Advisory Board. Nominate yourself, or a peer, today!

(RLABs are groups of local leaders that build engagement through programs, events, and trainings.)

There are several positions available, including:

Role Description
Co-Chair Co-Chairs serve as the strategic lead with USGBC-CA staff including, but not limited to, developing new initiatives, coordinating with mission-aligned partners, and overseeing the continued implementation of successful programs, events, and community outreach.
Advisor Advisors act as a subject matter expert for the RLAB to provide guidance, feedback, and input on programs, events, and more.
Operations Lead Operations Leads provide operational support and upkeep for RLAB operations, including:
  • Manage annual budgets (template provided by USGBC-CA) in collaboration with Chairs and ensure that members are informed
  • Review, verify and submit reimbursement requests in a timely manner and maintain detailed records
Marketing Lead Marketing Leads collaborate with the USGBC-CA Marketing team to plan, execute, and produce marketing materials for the RLAB.
Events Lead Events Leads serve as the logistics and coordination lead for regional events, and collaborate with the USGBC-CA Events team to plan, execute, and produce events.
Advocacy Lead Advocacy Leads are the main point of contact to USGBC-CA advocacy and/or policy staff regarding all advocacy-related efforts. Provide support and coordination for programs/events as they relate to advocacy.
Corporate Sustainability Lead Corporate Sustainability Leads serve as the voice of corporate sustainability for your region.
Qualifications: You must be in a high-level sustainability focused role at a company that has at least 100+ employees and/or a large physical presence/facility in your region. To learn more about LASER view our webpage on the USGBC-CA site.
