In the LA Wildfires of January 2025, we experienced one of the worst climate disasters of our time at a moment when we are seeing these types of wind and drought-driven wildfire incidents increase in size and scale. USGBC-CA, with technical support from Arup and our Wildfire Defense Advisory Committee, developed the Wildfire Rebuilding Guide to support those affected by the recent fires in the Los Angeles area. This group of experts in wildfire recovery, sustainable building and community resilience have identified key early decisions homeowners and building professionals will face and provide guidance to help them make the best decisions on their pathway to rebuilding. This training offers guidance, resources, best practices, materials and other tools designed to support contractors, construction professionals, and landscapers during the post climate disaster rebuilding process. The goal is to increase the capacity and knowledge around resilient and green building principles and to underscore best practices in high-road contracting.
